-Velcro Stones-

They broke emotional bones
by throwing verbal stones
and their words
will always haunt me.
Hitchhiker words
staying
like unwanted guests,
remain undeterred.
Sticking like velcro
these
tag-a-long adjectives
still taunting.

Lyrics By Snow Patrol (Feat. Martha Wainwright)-Set The Fire To The Third Bar-From The Album 'Eyes Open'

I've loved this song since the first time I heard it. The lyrics are so poetic, I had to post it. ..And yes, it was on the trailer for 'Dear John' but I liked it before that. :) FYI-For some reason the last minute and a half of this is silent.

I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from 'A' to where you'd be
It's only finger-lengths that I see
I touch the place where I'd find your face
My fingers in creases of distant dark places

I hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I've found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in science

Their words mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms

After I have traveled so far
We'd set the fire to the third bar
We'd share each other like an island
Until exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming, pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can't keep in

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
and I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

Poem By Walt Whitman-O Captain My Captain

Whitman is one of my favorites and I've really been into things concerning the sea lately. So, I thought I'd revisit this classic.

Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up -- for you the flag is flung -- for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths -- for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

The Dying Art Of Letterpress

A friend of mine showed me this video. It's about a place in Nashville called Hatch Show Print that does mostly letterpress posters. I really want to visit and see it all in action. There's something about this that really excites me. The quality and texture is so unique compared to digital print.

-Weep-

Wipe your fears
and tears
upon my sleeve.
No need
to endure on your own
all alone.

Lyrics By Thrice-Digging My Own Grave-From The Album 'Earth'

Thrice is probably my favorite band. Once again, I only post songs for the beauty of their lyrics.

It's not what you think
Just one more little bet
Just another cigarette
Just one more drink

So lend me just a little more
You know cancer can't catch me
Let's have another drink or three
Don't be a bore

But oh, don't I know
I'm just digging my own grave
Someone else please save myself from me
And oh, lord I know
I'm just digging my own grave
Can someone save myself from me?

I look, I don't touch
It's really no big deal
I'll quit it when I feel I've seen enough
Oh, don't call it an affair
It's just a little fling
She doesn't mean a thing to me, I swear

But oh, don't I know
I'm just digging my own grave
Someone else please save myself from me
And oh, lord I know
I'm just digging my own grave
Someone save myself from me

-Swallowed By The Sea-

Dead bodies bobbing
atop the icy ocean...
Untamed waves
had capsized the ship
of my expectancy.
The chilling black sea
claiming the lives
of my hopes and dreams.

///

I wrote this as imagery for disappointments and unmet expectations in life. The bodies represent all the different let downs - dead hopes. The ship is what I hold those little precious dreams and expectations in - dashed to pieces. The black sea is the things that come up in life and knock our plans around - dream smashers. As disappointing as this is I know that sometimes I put too much weight in my plans and I know their is a reason for everything.

Lyrics By Jimmy Eat World-Gotta Be Somebody's Blues-From The Album 'Chase This Light'

Jimmy Eat World is a one of a kind band. Enjoy these lyrics.

Let the water come
She's the only one I love
Let the fat man drop
She's the sweetest honey pot

Will they see the sky again?
Who will sing their blues for them?

Let the factories rust
She's the only thing I trust
Let the virus spread
She's the silk lining in my bed

Will they breathe our air again?
Who will sing their blues for them?

When you're feeling moot
You can have your conscience all you want
You can't say I do nothing yeah
I put it off

Where you gonna go if they come for you?
Will there be someone left to sing your blues?
Where you gonna run when they come for you?
Will there be someone to sing your blues?
